Progression of Research

As a result of the dissemination of our project to date, we have been invited to submit an Erasmus+ Co-operation Partnership Project with engineering educational researchers in KU Leuven and LUT Finland.

Our project title is “TRAINeng-PDP: Triggering reflection aiming to increase awareness and engagement of (future) engineers in the Personal Development Process”.  The project builds on our e-portfolio pilot and includes a work package that focuses on training lecturing staff on how to assist students in their personal development process and the development of specific skills in relation to sustainability and society.

If successful, we will not only pilot several e-portfolio platforms but also the training for lecturing staff and the inclusion of multinational partners will increase the opportunities for internationalisation of the curriculum and networking of staff between partner organizations.

Engineers Ireland as an external body has supported our project bid by becoming an Associate Partner on the project. They see specific alignment between the e-portfolio created in the student's university studies and the MyCPD application which is used for graduate engineers students to record their Continuing Professional Development on the journey to becoming Chartered Engineers. We welcome this industry focussed interaction with our project and the opportunity to develop close links with external partners.
